I took my first trip to a foreign country when I was six years old. But it was my trip to Europe when I was 13 that truly started my fascination with travel. During that trip, which included England, France, Germany, and Switzerland, I became enchanted with Europe and started to plan my return.
I was lucky enough to attend a college that encouraged travel and study abroad and off I went to Switzerland and southern France to learn French and then spent a year at a university in England, with side trips to Italy and Spain.
Five more trips to England, four more to Provence, trips to Italy, Serbia, Slovenia and then an extended trip to Portugal, and I was truly hooked.
I also realized that I had a talent for planning. Friends and family started to ask me to plan trips for them – and so a small business, Best in Britain was born. I planned 40+ trips for people going to England and Wales who wanted unique and personalized vacations. I planned travel for them just like I plan travel for myself – finding places that were unique and matched my interests, looking for the best places to stay and eat, making sure that I didn’t miss anything.
All of those travel plans were special. I planned trips for a person interested in maritime history, someone who wanted to learn more about English embroidery, and a couple who wanted to visit mazes and other specialized gardens, among others. Whatever people wanted to see and do, I could plan a trip.
After Best in Britain, I continued to design trips – a long vacation in Provence, travel to the wine country of Portugal and the art deco section of Lisbon, walking tours of Dorset and Wales, more food and wine itineraries in Provence.
Now, with Perfectly Planned Travel, I am focusing on the three areas I know best: England, Portugal, and one of my favorite places in the entire world, Provence. I look forward to planning a trip for you.
